Make your copper egg cooker shine! Easy polishing method that even beginners can do

November 25, 2024
銅の玉子焼き器をピカピカに!初心者でもできる簡単磨き方

Copper egg cookers are attractive cooking tools that develop a unique character the more you use them. However, if the copper exterior becomes dull, it will lose its beautiful shine. This time, we will introduce in detail how to polish it easily, which anyone can do!

What you need

 • Scotch-Brite non-woven scrubbing pad : Thoroughly removes burnt-on food.
 • Waterproof paper (coarse to fine) : For smoothing the surface.
 • Pical (metal polish) : Required for a mirror finish.
 • Twinkle Copper : Revives dull copper colors.

Polishing procedure

Remove any burnt bits .
Use a Scotch-Brite non-woven scrubbing pad to thoroughly scrub off any burnt bits from the outside. This step alone will make the pan very clean, but it will leave some small scratches, so proceed to the next step.

Smoothen the surface
Sand the surface using waterproof sandpaper, starting with a coarse one (around #800), then gradually switching to finer ones (#1000 or finer). This process will make any scratches made by the scrubbing pad less noticeable and will give you a smooth finish.

Mirror Finish
Finally, apply a small amount of Pical to a cloth and carefully polish the outside. By polishing slowly in a circular motion, the unique beautiful shine of copper will be restored!

Regular care

If you polish the surface with copper polish, the dull color will come back to life. The color comes back quickly, so it's nice to look at.

Important points to note

 • Do not touch the inner tin part.
Tin is a soft metal, so excessive rubbing can cause it to become scratched or peel off. Basically, you should continue to use it as is, and ask for professional maintenance if necessary.

 • What to do if the tin deteriorates
If the tin deteriorates, you can continue to use it for a longer period of time by having it re-tinned.

summary

After polishing, your copper egg cooker will regain its shine, just like new. Not only will it be beautiful, but caring for it will also make you feel even more attached to it. By caring for it regularly, you can enjoy your precious cooking utensils for a long time!
